Dr. Bennett has spent his entire career studying the function of the chewing system and TMJ/TMD dysfunction. He is highly experienced at evaluating and treating TMJ related dysfunctional chewing system problemsTemporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder (aka TMJ dysfunction, TMJ syndrome, or temporal mandibular joint disease (TMD) is an umbrella term covering acute or chronic inflammation of the temporomandibular joint, which connects the mandible to the skull.

The TMJ disorder and resultant dysfunction can result in significant pain and impairment. Correct function of the chewing system is necessary to reduce trauma associated TMJ pain, jaw joint degeneration, premature loss of teeth and early breakage of dental restorations. Signs of trauma induced damage include: headaches and neck pain, cracked and broken teeth, worn and chipping teeth, multiple capped teeth, the history of root canal therapy, loss of back teeth, bone loss, gum recession, notches on the sides of teeth just above the gum tissue and degeneration and/or pain of the temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ). To learn more, Check out his dental blogs that discuss TMJ/TMD treatment.
